BUZZARDS: There
are many buzzards on the road, (due to road kill). Be cautious, as they may take off in one direction, and then make
a 180. They don’t get very high very
fast. Even though this is the Buzzard Rally, please don’t become intimate
with them.
Javelinas: These are small, (the size of a medium dog and smaller), but very solid wild pigs. When they want to cross the road, they cross. Tractor trailers have been flipped off the road by them –Motorcycles have no chance.
Turkeys: They tend to cross the road in flocks. Slow down and enjoy them. Turkeys are larger than buzzards, but just don’t stink.
Deer: There are many deer out on the roads in the
southwest of Texas - ESPECIALLY at dawn, dusk, and night. Most of the local bikers try to avoid night time
riding. We have had many "close encounters" on our bikes. Be careful,
and plan your trip appropriately.
They are just some of the wonderful wildlife we have in Southwest Texas, slow down and enjoy them. They are part of our life – don’t let them in your life.
P.S. Please don’t feed the cougars!
